Каждая фракция в игре имеет свою сюжетную линию, состоящую из очереди квестовых заданий, к каждому из которых игрок может приступить как только ему это позволит его стратегическая хватка. За выполнение сюжетных заданий фракция может получить разные бонусы.

Игровая система
Не стоит забывать, что вселенная Warhammer в первую очередь настольная игра, и Games Workshop взяли за основу игрового баланса 7-ую редакцию настольной игры Warhammer 40,000.
Во время боя герои и подразделения могут прикрывать друг друга, отступать, перехватывать ходы и атаки подразделений противника, а также использовать свои дополнительные способности, открывающиеся по мере исследований.
По всем канонам настолки и сеттинга в Warhammer 40,000: Gladius – Relics of War отсутствуют дипломатия и торговые отношения. То есть готовьтесь только воевать и захватывать.
Ресурсы
В игре есть шесть основных ресурсов:
- еда;
- руда;
- энергия;
- исследования;
- влияние;
- лояльность.
Каждая из фракций имеет свои особенности использования ресурсов. Например, у ордена космодесанта продовольствие и руда совмещены в один ресурс.
Условия существования
Ландшафт и фауна планеты весьма коварны и не прощают ошибок. С помощью ландшафта подразделения могут получить различные бонусы, или же, наоборот, случайно оказаться в ловушке, рушащей все ваши планы. Не стоит забывать и о не менее пестрой фауне Гладиус-Прайм — чем дальше ваш патруль от города или заставы, тем больше у него шансов быть съеденым, порабощенным или просто убитым.
Планета, к тому же поделена на несколько климатических регионов: тропический, арктический, вулканический и пустынный. Каждый регион влияет на бонусы строительства. Очевидно, что, например, в арктическом регионе город будет вырабатывать больше руды, чем еды.
Игровое поле представляет собой гексагональную карту. По карте среди ландшафта разбросаны клетки, которые при захвате превращаются в заставу, обеспечивая небольшой прирост конкретного ресурса и опорный пункт для вашей фракции. Вместе с этим у игрока есть возможность захвата ценных а главное могущественных артефактов (Реликтов) дающих бонус сразу всей его армии.
Победа в игре может быть достигнута двумя способами.
- Завершить сюжетную линию.
- Победить всех игроков.
Герои и исследования
У каждой из сторон конфликта имеются три уровня героев и все они требуют отдельного исследования. Герои – полевые командиры, ведущие вашу армию к победам. Чем выше уровень героя, тем большими положительными бонусами он сможет наделить стоящих рядом юнитов, либо с большей вероятностью сможет помешать врагам нанести сокрушающий удар. Помимо героев получать уровни могут любые юниты, но способности они приобретают лишь за счет исследований.
Фракции имеют 10-ти уровневое древо технологий. С уникальными юнитами в конце, например Мастодонтом у орков или Бэйнблэйдом у гвардии.
Механика игры
В игре нужно делать все постепенно. Сначала необходимо будет изучить технологии на незнакомой вам планете. А затем можно и напасть на территорию противника, используя физические и боевые способности каждого воина в вашей игровой команде. Музыка и графика
Меня лично порадовала функция HRTF. Очень редко в стратегиях применяется настройка, увеличивающая остроту и объемность звучания. Может показаться, что подобное там без надобности, но какая атмосфера нескончаемой войны без сочных звуков отскоков гильз или старых добрых поражающих элементов?
Действительно. Чем всегда славился Вархаммер, так это качественным саундтреком, и по этому поводу претензий у меня нет. Музыка медитативная, что позволяет сосредоточится, и в тоже время мрачная, что позволяет быть погруженным в атмосферу весьма продолжительное время. Единственное что здесь не так — это музыкальное разнообразие, я бы разбавил плеер еще парой — тройкой маршей.
О графической составляющей проекта, к сожалению, не смогу отметить ничего сильно выдающегося. Не всегда плавная анимация заставляет задуматься, а сами модельки подразделений в тусклых текстурах планеты иногда кажутся куском мыла. И это в 2018 году. Единственное, что действительно радует глаз – аутентичные арты Games Workshop.
