Trivia[]
Biker hacking PhoneHom
- Similar to The Father and The Son, Biker is based on an enemy from Streets of Rage 2 (the bikers).
- Assets related to Biker and his apartment are labelled as «MC» and «pimp» in the game files.
- Biker was partly inspired by The Scorpion from Saturday Night Slam Masters, who in turn is based on the real Mexican luchador Tinieblas.
- Biker’s masked look was inspired partly by the comic book character Scarlet Spider, and his unmasked face is inspired by Double Dragon.
- Biker is the only player character in the series who is never given an explicit death. He returns to Miami in early November, 1991, but it’s doubtful he stuck around for another month and a half. Barring military bases, «the desert» isn’t a likely target in a nuclear war.
- Biker’s right eye is always hidden by his hair, a trait shared by fellow Hotline Miami boss The Bodyguard, who also uses throwing knives.
- Biker’s wears a green bandanna similar to the dark green bandanna Barnes is shown wearing.
- With only two weapons available, Biker’s sprite sheet is by far the smallest of any Hotline Miami player character (ironically even weapon-less Tony has more sprites than him), making him the simplest to reskin in mods.
- Cyan is possibly his natural hair color, as the beard he grew in the desert is also blue.
- In the Level Editor, Jacket and Biker’s jeans are both torn at the knees. Biker is also given a white undershirt with the sleeves torn off. Biker’s Level Editor death sprites and unmasked walking and phone answering animations lack the beard he sports in the Broken Bar.
- In official artwork for the game, Biker is shown reading a pornographic magazine with a topless woman and the title «Boobs» rather than taking part in a fight between the mobsters and Jacket.
- Biker seems to be an expert hacker, as he successfully hacked PhoneHom and (most likely) the Janitors’ computer.
- Biker’s attire is pink and light blue, colors reused for the cocaine operation level Crackdown, as well as Girlfriend’s bed blankets, and Girlfriend’s couch pillows.
- Biker shows up in The Bar of Broken Heroes. To meet Biker you need to use the phone in Evan’s apartment in intro of Subway. He also appears in First Trial, he can be seen outside (without his helmet) when Evan heads to the taxi.
- At one point in the development of the Level Editor, Biker’s young facial sprite had green eyes.
- Biker’s cleaver knife is available as a melee weapon in PAYDAY 2 as part of the Hotline Miami DLC, while his helmet is included as a mask if you buy Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Numberin Digital Edition.
- Biker’s throwing knives, meat cleaver, vehicle, and technical prowess may hint at an interest in or a past involving Asia.
- In Push It, during the Van Scene, the right side of Biker’s ruined face can be seen for the first and only time. Biker’s right eye is brown, not blue like his left. It’s possible that Biker has Heterochromia iridum, a condition in which is when the irises of a human are multi-colored.
- Biker is sort of a merciful player, seeing as how he spared Aubrey, Technician and the Janitors.
Trivia[]
- Jacket is visible in the prison’s visitation area, next to Richter as he walks out from the area. He is being visited by a man in a black suit with a briefcase.
- In the last area of the level, there are a dozen of 50 Blessings fliers scattered all over the cafeteria.
- Interestingly enough, the level is named after the M|O|O|N single of the same name, which was heard in the first Hotline Miami, first being heard in The Metro when Jacket encounters the Bum.
- There is a bug if a player killed a prisoner with the toothbrush shank, Richter’s clothes will change into a Prisoner clothes
- There is a bug where if two psychos killed the player, there will be two bodies of Richter.
- This is the first and only level to feature prisoners as enemies; prisoners are currently absent from the Level Editor
This is also the first of two levels to feature two factions of standard enemies the player must fight, the other one being Blood Money.
, though they can be placed as NPCs.
- This is the first level in the game to feature Dodgers as enemies.
- The fight with the Prison Boss at the start of the level is similar to the scene in Escape from New York, in which the protagonist fights a large bald bearded man while watched by a crowd and is given a weapon as the fight goes on.
- In this level, there is an alarm which overlays the level, similar to Seizure.
- The level’s cover is a possible reference to a Terminator 2 scene.
- After the fight with the Prison Boss, it is possible to dodge the bullets of the gaurds in the hallway and finish the level early, completely avoiding any combat. Doing so will get a time of level completion of 0:00.000, similar to the Into the Pit skip. However, unlike Into The Pit, this time will not be set on the leaderboards.
Trivia[]
- Although their appearances are very similar, Jake and Daniels are two completely different people: the first is an unemployed redneck ultra-nationalist alive by 1989, while the latter is a teacher in civilian life who likely died in 1985, apparently without relevant political views, and relatively calm. Furthermore Jake’s Neo Confederate views would obviously contradict Daniels’ friendship with the African American Barnes.
- Daniels appears to be a recoloring and slight edit of the Phone Hom Manager seen in the first game. They have differing hair amounts, eyebrows, and eye colors.
- It is unknown why Daniels wears a Shemauge/Keffiyeh or how he got it. It’s most likely a personal item and not standard issue uniform. The U.S. Military did not incorporate Shemauges until their involment in the Gulf and Afghanistan Wars which took place in the early 90’s (Gulf) and 2000’s (Afghan). Also in that regard, Shemauges are mostly associated with desert environments. On the other hand, Daniels mentioned that he was a teacher, which might imply that he travelled the world at one point to teach in a desert country or might be a teacher in geography or history/culture with certain interests.
Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number[]
Sunset Screen
- Kills 1000 points for executions, 800 points for melee, 600 points for ranged (400 for flamethrower and Jake’s lethal throws)

- Flexibility Constantly changing weapons helps with score
- Mobility Keep moving at all times for a high score
- Boldness Being seen by enemies, punching enemies, (Ranged weapons have a negative impact)
- Time Bonus Amount of time used to complete the level. Quicker times will increase this score.(Does not factor in total time for this category)
- Special (character-specific)
- Level Score / Grade C Score The color of the text can change from red (F,D) to blue (C,B-), yellow (B,A), green changing to white (A+,S), and flashing red (Guarantee S).
- Grade (same as Hotline Miami’s, with a new «S grade» above A+ that’s roughly 2.6x the Grade C Score)
- Total Time (from hours to milliseconds)

Transcript[]
Evan: «Hold on a second, gotta fetch another notepad.»
After getting the notepad, he returns to his seat.
Evan: «Alright, I’m back. Continue.»
Richter: «So, I’m in there, just waiting for the trial to start… And I can tell you, Time moves slow when you’re locked up.
This one day, I get a visit.»
Cut to Richter in the visitation area. Dennis and Jonatan enter the building. Jonatan picks up the phone.
Jonatan: «Good Afternoon.»
Richter: «Who are you guys?»
Dennis: «I told you he wouldn’t recognize us.»
Richter: «Why are you here?»
Jonatan: «Tying up some loose ends. Just a little precaution. Seems like it wasn’t really necessary.»
Richter: «I’m afraid I don’t understand.»
Dennis: «Oh, we didn’t expect you to. While we’re here, we might as well say our goodbyes.»
Richter: «Goodbyes?»
Jonatan: «Yes, after all you served us well. But it looks like your time’s up now.»
Richter: «What are you talking about?»
Jonatan: «You’ll figure it out, I’m sure.»
Dennis: «It was nice seeing you again, but I’m afraid it’s time for us to leave. You take care now!»
Both leave.
Richter gets up, leaves the visitation area, and enters the basketball court, where he meets the Prison Boss.
Prison Boss: Say your prayers, asshole.»
Trivia[]
- The inclusion of animal masks was motivated by Dennis Wedin’s childhood nightmares that revolved around Alice in Wonderland and The Wind in the Willows.
- The inclusion of mask abilities wasn’t originally intended until Nigel at Devolver Digital mistakenly advertised mask abilities in an interview. Dennaton hastily created all of the first game’s mask abilities, and Dennis Wedin expressed regret that none required the player to play differently, and that the Tony Mask was overpowered. This led to the mask system getting completely overhauled in Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number.
- Jake gets his masks from FEDUP delivery service, as a FEDUP box is shown every time he unlocks a mask.
- The Fans get their masks from Laughter Masquerade and Funny Stuff, as a Laughter box is shown every time the player unlocks a new Fan.
- Tony states that his mask was the one worn by Jacket himself, which is unlikely as it would have been taken as evidence during Jacket’s trial. It is more likely that the mask is the one worn by the man being interrogated in Tension.
- In Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number, most of the masks from the first game return, now being used by several NPCs.
- A bartender seen in the intro for Down Under can be seen wearing a Panda mask, and someone behind the bar going through the fridge is wearing a Dennis mask. Additionally, the Tony and Jake masks are lying on the bar.
- In The Abyss level, Evan Wright finds a group of hobos wearing all the masks worn by Jacket in Hotline Miami.

The Table Sequence[]
After beating Hotline Miami 2, players who decide to go to «New Game» and start again will be greeted with Richard (in Jacket’s clothing) sitting at the head of a table in a door-less projector room. All player characters from the game will appear sitting at the table. Richard questions why they’ve returned to the game even though they know they’ll all die at the end. Each person makes a comment characteristic of themselves and dies.
- Jake rudely and confusedly asks where he is and who everyone in the room is. He will then appear to be shot in the head. (Shot by Petrov or the 50 Blessings Manager in Withdrawal)
- Martin Brown questions if he’s dreaming again. Richard condescendingly asks «It’s all a dream, isn’t it?» and advises Martin to enjoy it while it lasts. He will then appear to be shot in the body vigorously as he is at the end of Final Cut (shot multiple times with a gun by Rachael).
- The Fans are all sitting together on the same side of the table. Tony is characteristically frustrated, just wanting to kill people, and tells his easily influenced friends «let’s get out of here.» Richard comments there’s only one way out of here, and they all appear dead the way they die in Death Wish (Golf club to the head, shot by Pardo, shot by The Son, and shot/possibly axe murdered by the Son)
- The Henchman will die on the table after the Son states that he’s not afraid of death. His head is bashed in a number of times. Aside from the non-Tony Fans he’s the only character who doesn’t get a word in, likely as his life and death was entirely a footnote to the Son’s.
- The Son says he isn’t afraid of death, and will appear dead on the ground, limbs broken apart as if he fell. (He dies by falling off his own building in Death Wish and Apocalypse)
- Richter mistakes Richard for Jacket and attempts to apologize for killing his girlfriend, but Richard denies that he is Jacket and tells him that remorse won’t get Richter anywhere. Richter then turns into a skeleton. (Atomic Blast)
- Manny Pardo will get aggressively defensive that he’s being judged even though he isn’t, which results in Richard questioning Pardo why he does what he does, and tells him that he simply doesn’t understand who Richard is. Pardo then turns into a skeleton. (Atomic Blast)
- Evan Wright will question who Richard is. Richard answers he’s «the opposite of why you’re writing your book» and «something you’ll will never understand,» as Evan was writing the book for a plethora of peripheral reasons (money, fame, concern for society’s well being, all at the expense of his family). Evan also turns into a skeleton. (Atomic Blast)
- Beard, as the last one left, wonders if they’ve met before. Richard answers that they did, and that he’s glad he remembers. He wishes that they could’ve met «under different circumstances». Beard does too, and dies as a skeleton. (Atomic Blast)
After everyone has finally died, Richard will play a projector tape, playing Midnight Animal and starting the game over (in the Hard Mode, the characters are depicted as reenacting Hotline Miami 2‘s events in dark blue nuked-out ruins).
The Abyss[]
Intro
Evan Wright, having taken the floppy disk he obtained with Manny Pardo’s help (and exiting the evidence locker to a burst of dream static) to a Copy Flash to print its contents, goes to retrieve the documents found on it from the Copy Flash store. The employee hands him a print out of the documents found on the floppy, which turn out to be a list of addresses (…NW 27th Ave… …NE 101st St…). Before leaving Evan asks the employee for a map of Miami, but is told they don’t sell maps and to try a tourist center a block away.
Abandoned Building
Evan meeting several hobos wearing 50 Blessings masks by a candle-lit 50 Blessings logo.
Evan arrives at NW 27th Avenue to find the abandoned 50 Blessings headquarters visited by Jake in Withdrawal. Several ruined beds, a water purifier system and a gym are now visible. The building has lead lined walls and a vault door, implying 50 Blessings planned to survive the nuclear war in there. Whether those plans ever panned out is unknown. It is possible this building in particular was abandoned because of the unwanted attention brought onto the organization by Jake.
He goes through the building, littered with 50 Blessings paraphernalia and various graffiti. Evan goes through the bunker until he reaches the back room, which contains several squatting hobos. The hobos are wearing many of the masks from the first game, including Richard, Don Juan and George; a large candle-lit 50 Blessings symbol is painted in the middle of the room. The hobos apparently mistake Evan for a 50 Blessings representative or other official come to kick them out, and he is told to leave or be killed. After exiting the back room, gang members have now occupied all the rooms and Evan must fight his way out to leave.
Playstyle[]
He cannot use masks, however, he can move a shotgun swiftly from one hand to the other, allowing him to aim at enemies faster. He is the only character that can finish off enemies on the ground without dropping his gun. Many of his gun executions use a small amount of bullets (except for the shotgun and the Mendoza, which he uses to quickly bash in the enemy’s skull with the butt of the gun). All gun fire execution shots, including the silenced heavy pistol, make noise that will draw nearby enemies. He begins Homicide with a fully loaded shotgun in his trunk. His levels are extremely oriented toward gunplay, and Caught has a memorable opening in which he must fight his way to a gun to progress.
Thrown Weapons[]
Thrown weapons do not have any melee attack but many will kill upon hit and some have their own execution animations, some will only knock down an enemy rather than kill. Some thrown weapons can only be used once before being lost or broken.
Thrown Weapons:
- Ninja Star (Hotline Miami weapon)
- Beer Can (Hotline Miami weapon)
- Dart (Hotline Miami weapon)
- Hammer (both games, used as a melee weapon in Hotline Miami 2)
- Brick (Hotline Miami weapon)
- Scissors (Hotline Miami weapon)
- Pot with Water (both games, seen in Level Editor — converts to Pot upon use)
- Glass Bottle (both games, used as a melee weapon in Hotline Miami 2)
- Throwing Knife (both games, seen in Level Editor — Exclusive to Biker in Hotline Miami 2)
- Acid (Hotline Miami 2 Weapon)
List of killed victims[]
This is a compiled list of how many kills The Son has performed in the series. Kills in Italics are unclear and merely up to interpretation. Kills in Bold are kills determined by the player’s choice:
- 2 Bankers
- Colombian Boss (Caused)
- Colombian Henchman (Caused)
- Blue Lips (possibly killed by either The Fans or The Son)
- Mark
- Corey
- Alex
- Ash
- Himself (walked off his own building and fell to his death)
- At least 129 Colombians (including Thugs — also includes 2 captive Colombians and 8 Colombians guarding the Colombian Boss)
- 41 security guards
- 17 dogs (2 of which are killed along with the Colombian Henchman)
- At least 14 Russian Mobsters (8 of which he hallucinates as Demons — including Thugs)
Overall, The Son has killed 207 enemies (212 if you count Blue Lips, the 2 bankers in Blood Money and the 2 captive Colombians seen in the intro of Take Over).
Profile[]
Description
In Hotline Miami, both of them wear green suits and caps as their uniforms, while Dennis has blonde hair of medium length, blue eyes, and a piercing in his nose. Jonatan has short brown hair, blue eyes, a mustache and a goatee, and appears to also have stubble.
In Hotline Miami 2, they both no longer wear their uniforms, but civil clothing, and have both grown their beards (especially Dennis, who now has a full beard and dyed brown hair), a reference to Wedin and Soderström whose looks changed since the creation of the first game. In Release, Dennis is carrying a large bag, and Jonatan has a backpack.
In both games, they have suspicious grins on their faces (perhaps implying knowledge about the outcome of the series) which only cease after Biker correctly guesses their Computers’ password.
Dennis with a straight face.
Jonatan with a straight face.
Personality
The Janitors like to call themselves American patriots. They are contributing to 50 Blessings’ movement of terrorism against the Russian Mafia by forcing people to commit murders. These murders are ordered via cryptic phone calls. While the patriotic motives of the Janitors can be debated as justified or not, the Janitors are clearly immoral and sociopathic. They show absolutely no remorse for pushing innocent people like Richter to commit murders. Furthermore, they are completely ungrateful to their agents, as they order most of them to be killed after they stop being useful.
The Janitors are also representations of the two creators of the games, some of their dialogue is actually the developers addressing the player. However, this type of dialogue seems to have a double meaning, as the Janitors and the developers are clearly distinct entities.
Plot[]
After the events of House Call, Richter shot and killed a woman and placed Jacket in a coma in their home on 8th June, 1989. After that, Richter was arrested. By 1990, he was in the Federal Correctional Institution in Miami.
Intro
Evan’s segment
In 1991, Evan Wright tells Richter to hold on, as he has to get a new notepad to continue taking notes. He can read a newspaper before returning to his seat next to the phone, where the interview continues.
Richter’s segment
In the visiting area of the prison, Richter is visited by two men who he does not recognize.
Level
Richter is blocked from the dining area by two guards, who say they have «a little surprise» for him in the main hall.
The Big Pipe used to kill the Prison Boss.
Entering the main hall, Richter finds himself faced alone with a large, hostile prisoner with tattoos on his face. Richter dodges the prisoner’s attacks until a big pipe is thrown into the hall, which he uses to kill the prisoner. Richter then leaves the hall through the way he entered, only to find that a prison riot is underway, with several escaping prisoners shot dead by the guards.
Richter makes his way through the prison and changes into a guard’s uniform, which allows him to be evacuated from the prison by a SWAT team.
Outro
Richter closes his story, and explains that he wants to buy a plane ticket for his mother. Evan promises to get the money «one way or another», and thanks him for how much help he has been.
Evan reads a note at his dining table. It reads:
Dear Evan, I haven’t heard from you in a while. I miss you. The kids miss you too. I think we can still make this work. But I can’t live with a man who puts his work before his family. I still love you, you know I do. I hope you love me too. Please call me when you read this. -Sharon
The player is shown two blue arrows: one at the typewriter and one at the phone. Interacting with either one of them will end the level. Interacting with either of them will also affect Evan’s outcome during the end of the game.
Events in Hotline Miami[]
May 13th, 1989 (Clean Hit)
The Janitors are first introduced on May 13th, 1989, overseeing Jacket’s assassination of mob affiliated pro-RAC politicians in Clean Hit after Biker apparently rejected the job. Dennis is seen on the first floor of Jacket’s building, presumably spying him, and Jonatan is seen inside of the targeted building, also presumed to be spying, which would explain how they become quickly aware about Biker declining the mission.
May 24th, 1989 (Resolution)
They are revealed later to Biker on May 24th during Resolution to be the men leaving the mysterious phone calls on the answering machines of 50 Blessings’ masked operators. They are in fact members of the nationalist group, which aims at taking out Russian organized crime out of Miami in hopes of playing up Americans’ distaste for Russians and breaking the Russo-American coalition. They will simply laugh at his ignorance if the puzzle was not completed and their computer not accessed, claiming to have organized the slaughters for their own fun. However if their password was cracked, Biker discovers their plan before confronting them, surprising them both. The Janitors will then state that they are just the «tip of the iceberg» and that there are 50 Blessings operations all over the United States. When the dialogue is over, their fate is left in Biker’s hands as he can choose to slaughter them or simply leave for good. Regardless, their nation wide scope and connections cause Biker to flee Miami to angle his next move from the desert.
